Superscripts in Microsoft Word
To turn off the feature in Microsoft Word that automatically formats ordinal numbers as superscript text (1st, 2nd, 3rd), try these steps:

Go to Tools / AutoCorrect Options. (In Word 2007, click the Office button at the top, then Word Options, Proofing, AutoCorrect Options.) Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab, then uncheck Ordinals (1st) with superscript.
