Computer Research Exercises

Please type answers to the following questions. If
you wish, you may work as a group of up to four
students to answer these questions (and put all
students' names on the answers that you submit).

     1. Briefly describe the research process that you
used for either the first or the second advocacy
memorandum problem, including the types of materials
that you used (i.e., Lexis, Westlaw, print materials,
or a combination). (If you answer these questions as
a group, compare the research strategies that each of
     you used.)

     2. If you used Lexis or Westlaw for part or all of
your research, do you believe that you saved time or
found information that you would not have found if you
had relied solely on print materials? Or, if you used
print materials for some or all of your research,
might you have benefited by using Lexis or Westlaw?

     3. If you were billing a client for your time, and
passing Lexis and Westlaw charges along to your
client, do you think that the research process you
used would be in your client's best interests? (If
you wish, figure the cost of your time at $100 per
hour, and the additional cost of Lexis or Westlaw
access at another $100 per hour online.)
