Assignment for Thursday, February 17:

Writing Exercises

     In Writing and Analysis in the Law, complete Exercises 
     17-A, 17-C, 17-D, and 17-E, and submit them typed on 
     8-1/2x11" paper.

     Group option:  You may elect to work as part of a 
     group of up to four students for these exercises.  
     However, you should still read the exercises and write 
     draft answers on your own, and then work with group 
     members to prepare a single set of answers representing 
     the collective work of the group.  Turn in one copy 
     of these answers, with the names of each student who 
     contributed substantially to the assignment.


Assignment for Thursday, February 24:

Research Exercises

     In The Process of Legal Research, choose research 
     situation D, E, or H for chapter 8 (pp. 481-86), and 
     complete exercises 1 through 7 and 9 using that 
     research situation.  If you work on your own rather 
     than as part of a group, then you may complete only 
     exercises 1 through 5.  Write your answers on the 
     original pages from the textbook or photocopies of 
     those pages.

     Group option:  You may elect to work as part of a 
     group of up to four students to complete these 
     exercises.  Each member of the group must participate 
     in answering each question--in other words, you may 
     not divide the questions among group members.  The 
     group should turn in one copy of the assignment, 
     signed by each group member.  Each student's signature 
     on the assignment represents that he or she actively 
     participated in answering every question on the 
     assignment.
